Ferrari 348 Interior
As with its exterior design, the 348's interior set Ferrari's tone for the 1990s. It was modern, tidy and highly functional. No space was wasted, lines were straight and edges beveled. The matte black instrument pod housed four primary guages, focused on the large tachometer and speedometer. Connecting binnacle and driver was a thick section, anatomically designed, leather covered Momo wheel. The collapsible steering column adjusted for rake. The low center console contained switchgear and electronic instruments resided in the console, along with large buttons to control the climate system. On the lower console a polished gate surrounded the tall shift lever surmounted by a spherical grip.
The manually adjustable seats of the 348 were heavily bolstered and firm without being hard. Fine leather held occupants tight through high load maneuvers, while substantial legroom assured their comfort. Leather covered most interior surfaces, while the finest carpet covered much of the rest. Even without a rear luggage compartment, the 348 provides greater carrying capacity than its predecessors. The 348's capacious front trunk was unobstructed by a spare tire or radiator. With the optional fitted Schedoni luggage, the 348 provided enough space for a holiday's worth of clothing.
The interiors of the 348 tb, ts, GTB, GTS and Spider were identical except for variations in location of the interior light. The 348 Serie Speciale's interior benefited from new kevlar seats, integrated seatbelts, and more leather. The 348 Competizione had heavily bolstered red kevlar racing seats, like the F40's. Continuing the racing theme of this model were drilled aluminum pedals and a special suede-covered Momo racing wheel.
