Ferrari 308 Suspension
The tube frame chassis of the Ferrari 308 series was independently suspended at all four corners by coil springs over Koni shock absorbers, located by unequal length dual wishbones. Front and rear anti-roll bars were standard. The suspension pieces were attached to the chassis through teflon lined bushings. Although most aspects of the suspension were unchanged through the various generations, the Koni shock absorbers were altered to maintain its fine tune with each weight and model change.
Steering was through a rack and pinion system.
Brakes were ventilated discs, their twin piston calipers hydraulically actuated through twin master cylinders, one for the front brakes and one for the rear.
Wheels were of five spoke, star shaped design. The castings changed slightly with each new model. For the 308, the standard wheels were 14"X6.5" and carried 205/70 R14 tires. The optional wheels for this model were 14"X7.5" and carried the same tires. The 308i was given larger standard metric sized 165 TR 390 FH-PR wheels carrying 240/55 VR415 Michelin tires. Optional on the 308i were the standard and optional wheels and tires offered on the 308. The 308qv carried the same standard wheels and tires as the 308i, but optional front wheels of 16"X7" with 205/55 VR16 tires and rear wheels of 16"X8" with 225/50 VR16 tires.
